HYPERION BRINGS IN TITANIC YIELD

The best ever farm yield has been recorded at Upton Suffolk Farms, near Bury St Edmonds.
 
A second wheat crop of Hyperion, grown as seed for plant breeders Nickerson, came in at 11.6 tonnes per hectare from a 10.04 hectare field.
 
The wheat was drilled on 12th October 2005 by a pressed drill following directly behind the plough, at a seed rate of 300 per square metre.
 
It was treated with 160kg per hectare of nitrogen with a full T1,T2,T3 disease control programme. Grower, John Bartlet commented that the applied rates were quite low.
 
Upton Suffolk Farms grows primarily root crops, specialising in potatoes.
