NICKERSON Direct at the Dairy Event
The Nickerson Direct team were at the Dairy Event where visitors to the stand were able to relax for a few moments to enjoy cheese & wine - featuring wine from Nickerson's parent company Group Limagrain - accompanied by fine regional cheeses produced from milk from cows fed on Circle Leys and LG maize varieties.
These included cheddar and smoked cheddar from Kent, Lancashire creamy cheese, Wensleydale & Cranberry, the renowned Quenby Hall stilton from Leicestershire - and Cote Hill Blue and Yellow Belly cheese from the award-winning cheese-making business at Cote Hill Farm in Lincolnshire using milk produced by their pedigree Holstein/Fresian cows.
Maize silage is the starting point of cheese-making at Cote Hill for farmer Michael Davenport, who has been farming and milking cows for 30 years and started making cheese at Cote Hill in 2005. The high quality unpasteurised milk, rich in butterfat and protein, gives their hand-crafted cheeses the unique flavour that has brought ‘Cote Hill Blue’ a Gold Medal at the British Cheese Awards two years running.
