OILSEED RAPE WITH THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE LIGHT LEAF RESISTANCE
"Emerson is a hybrid winter oilseed rape variety that, for all practical purposes, is immune to light leaf spot - the problem disease for oilseed rape growers in the north of England and Scotland," says Sean Lovegreen, Nickerson Direct Seed Specialist. “This is the main foliar disease to attack winter oilseed rape there, so Emerson can give worthwhile savings on your autumn and spring fungicide costs.
"Emerson is a restored hybrid added to the 2009 HGCA Recommended List for their North Region and, in addition to its '9' rating for light leaf spot resistance, has a high treated gross output and good resistance to lodging."
HGCA Recommended Lists Manager, Jim McVittie adds: "We mark Scotch Corner as the point where the north begins for oilseed rape growers. This is where stem canker is not quite such a concern, but light leaf spot is the key disease - so the good varietal resistance is a real benefit to growers."
