VIGOUR
Low vigour seed sown in late February or early March, or into adverse conditions, can often fail due to seedling death caused by Pythium fungi.
"We have found that even though seed is of good quality and germination, low vigour can reduce the performance of the seed." PGRO
Original pulse pea seed is vigour tested; with low vigour lots being rejected.
"Damping off"
Damping off fungi (Pythium and Fusarium) are present in all soils. They can cause crop thinning by killing germinating seeds.
Effective control by seed treatment traditionally applied by slurry is not always effective. Seeds are often either overdosed, or receive no treatment at all.

- Every seed is coated with the correct amount of chemical - this ensures better disease control and thus better establishment.
- Reduction in "dusting off" during handling and drilling.
- Improved drill flow ensures even spacing.
- Reduced "bridging of seed" when drilling in damp conditions.
