Gatsby has excellent resistance to all the major foliar diseases with no weaknesses. It is one of only three varieties on the HGCA Recommended List to have a '7' for Septoria tritici resistance.

Gatsby has proven genetic resistance to Wheat Orange Blossom Midge and was added to the 2006 HGCA Recommended List with a specific recommendation for this character.

SOWING DATES

Gatsby has the attributes required for early sowing: stiff straw, very good Septoria resistance and slow primordia development. Its optimum sowing date is between early September and mid-October.

The latest safe sowing date for Gatsby is the end of January.
