Kale is a spring sown crop. It produces high yields of feed for sheep, dairy and beef cattle. Kale is economical to grow and produces good results, when given plenty of organic material e.g. slurry or farmyard manure.

Kale can produce 60-70 tonnes of fresh feed per hectare has an excellent crude protein content – essential for animal nutrition and can be fed fresh by strip or [zero grazing] using electric fencing, a forage box or barrier. A kale crop is also suitable for outwintering cattle.

UK proven. Caledonian kale is a high yielding marrow stem type kale. It has good digestibility for dairy and beef cattle. The highest yielding kale in our trials, it also benefits from club root tolerance, allowing growers to continually sow this variety on clubroot infected sites.
